My MBA is done. I can’t believe I’ve reached this point wherein I’m going to have all the time after office to do whatever I want. The feeling’s so liberating yet at the same time overwhelming because I’ve been pretty much used to spending almost half of my life going to school and working on academic stuff.
Don’t get me wrong – I love this feeling (which actually inspired me to work on this mix). I treasure my time much more than money, and I’ve got waaaay too much stuff on my mind that I’ve been wanting to do. I feel there won’t be any “lag time” for me as I’ve been itching to tick off all these things in my mental checklist.
Anyway, here’s the fruit of my newfound freedom. Got the chance to work on it the moment I felt like waking up from my 5hr (!!!) nap. Here’s the tracklist:
- Come Back Baby: Flush
- Golden Wings: Bag Raiders
- Disclosure: Bang That
- Paul Johnson: Get Down
- Charles B & Adonis: Lack of Love
I feel like I’ve finally found my music mix “flavor” the past days as I’ve been combining a whole lot of early 90s disco music with some of the electro/synth/technopop songs that are staples in my iPod.
The whole process of beat- and key-matching is actually very therapeutic. I get to be both creative and calculative at the same time which, I feel, is a perfect balance of my personality. It’s a great avenue to destress/detoxify from my day job and night class. Minsan kailangan rin magpahinga ni Curacha, noh. HAHA.
Anyway, here’s the tracklist:
- My Love: Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne
- Picture Picture: Sharam Jay & Sirius Hood
- Liquid Spirit (Claptone Remix): Gregory Porter
- Drumatic: Purple Disco Machine
- Show Me Love: Robin S
Feels like forever since I last worked on a mix. And just like that, 16% of the year is done. I’ve been preoccupied with my full time job as we’re undergoing a transition coming from a global buyout.
All I can say is that I have nothing else to say with all the rapid changes happening around me. Hence the title of this mix. I’m just happily gliding and dancing my way through ~lyf~, taking things one giddy step at a time. I’m glad I’ve got music to keep me intact and focused during office hours. The songs in this mix are just some of the stuff I’ve been listening to nonstop.
Tracks featured are as follows:
- The Crush: La Royale
- Omeo: Darius
- Sunsplash: Luke Million
- Unfinished Business: Detroit Swindle
- Lite Spots: Kaytranada
I’m trying out this new software (thanks, Allan!) for mixing – way better than the one I had. I’m still trying to figure out how to seamlessly transition but I’m struggling as I’m just using my trackpad – my hands tend to get a bit sweaty throughout the session! 😖
Anyway, here’s my third attempt. Schoolwork has been too heavy the past weeks that it’s so hard to squeeze in some time to practice.
- MajorLazer and DJ Snake – Lean On (DiscoRazor’s Galactic Edit)
- Tove Styrke – Ego (Bearson Remix)
- Shura – Touch (Four Tet Remix)
- Disclosure – BOSS
- Oscar Key Sung – All I Could Do
I’m starting to get the hang of this, but I’m 1000% sure there’s still so much room for improvement. Here’s what I came up this early in the morning because I was woken up by my sister’s Sunday morning cartoons.
- Do it Right feat. Tkay Maidza – Martin Solveig
- Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix) – Destiny’s Child
- Around the World – Daft Punk
- Beware the Dog (Autograf Remix) – The Griswolds
- Lady – Modjo
Senses breaking down, slowly fade as a beat.
Living like a king, but I ain’t got no crown.
